XIAO XIAO

xiao xiao is a post-punk project emerging from Western Sydney, pulling from punk, rap, club music and trip-hop without fully belonging to any one tradition. Formed by Kitiibwa (Kitii), Minhyuk (Angus), Kalanjay (Kal) and Himadri. Known for their work across Sydney’s underground music and creative scenes, the group moves with the intensity and unpredictability of Dharug Nura, carrying the tension, humour and fragmentation of the city into their sound. Despite only having two official releases, xiao xiao has built momentum through underground radio, online communities and word-of-mouth. Their debut single “Left Right,” released on 4/20 in 2025, introduced the project with a confrontational 1 minute 40 second burst that quickly drew international attention across experimental and alternative music spaces. Released on Lunar New Year 2026, “Tips” expanded the group’s world further while marking the music video directorial debut of lead singer Kitiibwa. More than a traditional band, xiao xiao exists as a collision of scenes, languages and disciplines. Documenting a version of contemporary Australian underground culture rarely represented at the centre.
