RINSE, the solo project of Melbourne-based artist Joe Agius, is best known as a member, producer, and co-writer of Hatchie. In RINSE, Agius takes center stage, presenting meticulously written pop songs dressed with dream-pop instrumentation and 80s post-punk drums, likening them to the golden era of The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, and Echo and the Bunnymen. Following up on previous EPs ‘Sinkero’ and ‘Wherever I Am’, which included ‘Back Into Your Arms’, a single featuring Hatchie, RINSE saw widespread recognition across college radio in the US, as well as on KEXP, and received high praise from Stereogum, NPR, and The Fader, following previous collaborations with Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Wild Nothing, Sky Ferreira). In 2024, RINSE announces its signing to Melbourne-based label Cohort (Juice Webster, Mimi Gilbert, Geography) and the release of a new single, ‘Stranger,’ featuring LA artist Caroline Loveglow. ‘Stranger’ is a song packed with nostalgia, lush shoegaze guitars, and a carefully constructed vocal choir from Loveglow.
